两千年来基督教经历了许多变化，但基督教信仰作为一种独立的声音一直对西方乃至整个世界不断发挥影响。本文认为，基督教信仰的活力很大程度上来源于神学家们的不懈努力，而美国基督教伦理学家莱因霍尔德·尼布尔就是这样一位学者。尼布尔致力于基督教传统教义的现实相关性的研究，他对基督教伦理学如何在现代社会发挥作用具有独到的见解。尼布尔的观点招致许多批评，辨明这些批评者和尼布尔的思想分歧对理解尼布尔的学说意义深远。本文正是通过弗兰克纳的批评来阐述尼布尔的现代基督教伦理学的基本观点。

Abstract
Christian has endured many great changes during the last 2000 years, but as an independent voice, Christian affects the world continuously. The vitality Christian has is mostly due to the endeavor of hundreds of theologians. Reinhold Niebuhr is the kind of scholars. Niebuhr’s attribution to Christian is his Christian Realism ethics, which showed the relevance to social situation in the early half of 20 century. Among the critics of him, Frankena is a unnoticeable figure through which we can know the points of Niebuhr’s view on the relation of Christian ethics and the modern society.
